Murray State Wins 2016 OVC Volleyball Championship

Murray State defeated SIUE in five sets (25-16, 24-26, 22-25, 25-13, 15-11) to win the 2016 OVC Volleyball Championship. With the win, the Racers earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Murray State will learn its opponent on Nov. 27 during the selection show on ESPNU.

Scottie Ingram, who was named the tournament MVP, led the Racers with a match-high 21 kills. She also recorded 20 digs for the double-double. Kristen Besselsen also notched a double-double with 19 kills and 12 digs. Kamille Jones chipped in 16 kills in the win. Hannal Stultz dished out 60 assists to go with 20 digs.

Taylor Joens paced the Cougar offense with 13 kills. Samantha Knight registered a double-dobule with 19 assists and 14 digs. Mallory Mangun also recorded a double-double with a team-best 26 assists and 13 digs. Katie Shashack recorded a team-best 25 digs
