Top seeeded Murray State defeated No. 5 Eastern Illinois, 4-0, to advance to the finals of the 2015 OVC Women's Tennis Championship. It marks the second straight year the Racers have reached the final.

Murray State picked up the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 an No. 2 spots. Elenora Tchakarova and Verginie Tchakarova defeated Grace Aummers and Sephora Boulbahaiem, 8-6, while Alena Vasileva and Megan Blue beat Kelly Iden and Kamile Stadalninkaite, 8-3.

Murray State's Erin Patton picked up the win at No. 6 over Maria Moshteva (6-1, 6-1.) The Racers also won at No. 1 singles as Andrea Eskauriatza defeated Kelly Iden (6-3, 6-1). Eleonore Tchakarova clinched the victory for Murray State as she defeated Ali Foster (6-2, 6-2) at No. 2 singles.

EASTERN KENTUCKY 4, MOREHEAD STATE 2
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Second-seeded Eastern Kentucky defeated No. 3 Morehead State to advance to the final match of the 2015 OVC Women's Tennis Championship. It marks the fourth straight year the Colonels have made it to the final match.

Morehead State earned the doubles point via wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The Eagles' Dominique McLean and Akaya Terashi defeated Marcela Jimenez and Melissa Gerritsen (8-5) while Aleksandra Savic and Alex Tachovsky beat Marti Marina and Raquel Montalvo.

Montavlo picked up the win at No. 6 singles over Savic (6-1, 6-2) to give Eastern Kentucky its first point of the match. Kristain Labeja would put EKU on top as she defeated Terashi (6-3, 6-0) at the No. 2 spot.

Morehead State's Haley Wild evened the match as she defeated Melissa Gerristen, 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 5 spot.

Eastern Kentucky's Marian Marti picked up the win at No. 3 singles as she defeated Terashi (6-3, 6-0). Marcela Jimenez clinched the win for the Colonels as she defeated Alex Tachovsky (7-5, 6-3).

– Austin Peay State University men's tennis team has advanced to the finals of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship as the Govs upset second-seeded Tennessee Tech 4-0, Saturday, at Centennial SportsPlex.

In doubles action, the pairing of senior Aleksas Tverijonas and sophomore Aaron Jumonville picked up an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 position. The Govs then clinched the doubles point when the pairing of seniors Iago Seffrin and Dimitar Ristovski earned an 8-7 (6) win at the No. 1 slot.

In singles play, Austin Peay was led by Jumonville, who earned a 6-3, 6-2 win against Alberto Esteban at the No. 3 position and Tverijonas, who picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Eduardo Mena at the No. 2 slot. The Govs completed the sweep when Ristovski defeated the Golden Eagles’ Alex Arovin 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1.

The win moves Austin Peay into the finals against No. 1 seed Eastern Kentucky in a 1 p.m., Sunday match at Centennial SportsPlex.  EKU advanced to the finals with a 4-3 victory over Jacksonville State.

EASTERN KENTUCKY 4, JACKSONVILLE STATE 3
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Sophomore Diogo Soares won the decisive match at No. 5 singles to lift the Eastern Kentucky University men’s tennis team to a 4-3 win over Jacksonville State in the OVC Tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon. The Colonels advance to play No. 3 seed Austin Peay in the championship match.
 
Jacksonville State, the No. 4 seed, picked up the doubles point with come-from-behind wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. The Gamecocks (11-12) fought off a couple of match points at No. 3 doubles before winning that contest in a tiebreaker.
 
Sophomore Sebastian Mueller (No. 4), freshman Ramon van Flymen (No. 2) and senior Juanjo de la Llera (No. 6) each won in straight sets to put the top-seeded Colonels (17-7) ahead, 3-2.
 
However, JSU’s Jeff Wendler-Filho evened the score with a three-set triumph at No. 1 singles.
 
Soares finally ended the match when he broke Jared Reese in the 10th game of the second set. The lefty has won five of his last six singles matches.
 
EKU’s lone OVC loss in 2015 came at the hands of Austin Peay on March 28, 5-2.
