Eastern Illinois Sweeps OVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship Titles

The Eastern Illinois men and women swept the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship titles. The Panther men scored 222.5 points for the win while the women earned 145.0 points.

The Southeast Missouri men finished second with 189.50 points followed by SIUE (131.50), Eastern Kentucky (79), Tennessee State (68), Belmont (43.5) and Morehead State (28).

The Murray State women scored 124 points for a second-place finish while Southeast Missouri placed third with 115 points. SIUE finished fourth with 99 points followed by Tennessee State (92), Eastern Kentucky (63), Jacksonville State (55), Austin Peay (44.5), Belmont (30), Morehead State (8) and Tennessee Tech (3).

The Panther men garnered three individual titles on the second day. Calvin Edwards took first in the 200 meters with a time of 21.50 while Dominique Hall won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.52. The EIU 4x400-meter relay team took first with a mark of 3:15.75.

The EIU women earned a pair of first-place finishes on Saturday with Jalisa Paramore winning the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.88 and Britney Whitehead recorded a 4:34.45 1,500-meter time to take the crown.

Murray State's Tonia Pratt set a new OVC hammer throw record with a toss of 176'07.00".

The Racers' Jenny Severns won the Women's Coach of the Year while EIU's Tom Akers took Men's Coach of the Year honors.
