CHARLESTON, Ill. - Fifth-seeded UT Martin defeated No. 4 Murray State to advance to the championship game against Jacksonville State.
The Skyhawks' Kenzi Tate picked up her 20th win of the season while also driving in four at the plate. She hit her 13th home run of the season. Devon Wilson led UT Martin with a pair of hits while Kayla Wade scored a team-high two runs.
Shelbey Miller and Christan Cox led the Racers with a pair of hits each. CheyAnne Gaskey was tagged with the loss.
JACKSONVILLE STATE 2, UT MARTIN 0
CHARLESTON, Ill. - Jacksonville State defeated UT Martin, 2-0, to win the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championship. With the win the Gamecocks earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The two teams remained scoreless through four innings of action. The Gamecocks scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning to get on the board first. Kelci Johnston added an insurance run with her fifth home run of the season.
Three different Skyhawks recorded a hit.
Tiffany Harbin picked up the win, not allowing an earned run and striking out nine. UT Martin's Casey Vincent was tagged with the loss.
