The NCAA Men’s and Women’s Rifle Committee has selected Murray State University to host the 2014 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Rifle Championships. Competition will take place March 14-15 on the Murray State campus.
“The committee feels that Murray State will provide a quality venue for the competition and a first-class experience for the participating student-athletes,” said Valerie Booth, the head rifle coach at Ole Miss and the chair of the men’s and women’s rifle committee. “The university has a proven track record with hosting the rifle championships and we are excited to return to Murray State.”
"We are excited to be able to bring the NCAA Championships back to Murray State,” said head Racer rifle coach Alan Lollar. “It gives us a chance showcase the university and its commitment to rifle. Thank you Mr. Ward, Dr. Dunn, Shelley Todd and the city of Murray for making it possible."
This will be the ninth time that Murray State has hosted the championships, having previously served as the host institution in 1984, ’89, ’92, ’94, ’97, 98, 2002 and ’04.
“We're honored to have been selected to host the 2014 NCAA Rifle Championships,” said Murray State Director of Athletics Allen Ward. “It will give us a great opportunity to not only highlight our exceptional rifle program, but also showcase this fine university on a national stage. It's exciting to know that an NCAA Championship will be coming to Murray next year.”
