MARTIN, Tenn – Top-seeded UT Martin defeated No. 4 Southeast Missouri, 1-0, to advance to the finals of the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Soccer Championship. The Skyhawks will play the winner of the Austin Peay/SIUE match on Sunday.
Neither team could find the net in the first half. Junior Mary Thompson scored to first goal and the eventual game-winner in the 66
th minute to give the Skyhawks the 1-0 lead. It marked her first goal of the season. Junior Hannah McGowen registered the assist on the score. It was her fifth helper of the year.
Freshman Storm French led the Redhawks with two shots in the match.
UT Martin sophomore Mariah Klenke made three saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season.
Senor Renee Kertz earned four saves for the Redhawks.
Southeast Missouri finished the year with 7-10-4 overall record.

MARTIN, Tenn. - Second-seeded Austin Peay defeated No. 6 SIUE, 1-0, to advance to the finals of the OVC Soccer Championships. The Lady Govs will play top-seeded UT Martin on Sunday.
Much like the first semifinal of the day, neither team scored in the first half. Junior Joceline Quiceno scored her fifth goal of the year to give the Lady Govs the 1-0 lead in the 84th minute of the match. Junior Tatiana Ariza registered the assist on the score for her eighth assist of the season.
Austin Peay goalkeeper Haylee Shoaff made six saves to earn her seventh shutout of the season while SIUE keeper Jennifer Pelley made four stops.
The Cougars finished the season with a 7-8-4 overall mark.
