Five Ohio Valley Conference track and field student-athletes have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team as voted on by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Four of the selections came from District IV. District IV selections come from schools located within the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
Three of those four were first-team selections, meaning they will now move on to the ballot for consideration for the honor of Academic All-American. Those selections were Austin Peay junior Carrie Burggraf (4.00 GPA in political science), Jacksonville State senior Lesley Binning (4.00 GPA in exercise science and wellness) and Tennessee Tech senior Keri Light (3.94 PGA in psychology). The second-team selection from District IV was Tennessee Tech senior Stephanie Place (3.73 GPA in nursing).
The fifth selection was a first-team pick from District VII; she will also move on to the national ballot. That selection was Southeast Missouri State senior Amy Warren (4.00 GPA in communiciation disorders/Spanish). District VII selections come from schools located within the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming and the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
To be eligible for nomation, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
