Former Jax State QB Ryan Perrilloux Signs with New York Giants

The New York Giants announced the signing of seven players to reserve/future contracts, including former Jacksonville State All-American Ryan Perrilloux.

The players signed today include Perrilloux, defensive backs Joe Burnett of Central Florida and Cary Harris of USC, running back Martell Mallet of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, offensive lineman Ikechuku Ndukwe of Northwestern, defensive end Ayanga Okpokowuruk of Duke and wide receiver Todd Watkins of BYU.

Perrilloux, 6-2 and 213 pounds, played this season for the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League. In eight games - the Colonials' entire season -- Perrilloux completed 33 of 69 passes for 394 yards and two touchdowns for a 75.4 passer rating. He did not throw an interception. Perrilloux also ran 10 times for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Perrilloux was an All-America quarterback for the Gamecocks in 2009 and was also named the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in passing efficiency (172.58) and ranked fourth nationally in points responsible for (18.6 points/game).
 
The senior quarterback also set several other single-season school records, including touchdowns responsible for (31), total offense per game (279.3) and total offense per play (8.36). He finished his two-year career as Jax State's career leader in passing yards per game (222.3) and total offense per game (260.9) and had a career passing efficiency of 154.9.

The LaPlace, La., native finished the season with 2,350 yards, which was the third best in school history, and his 42 career passing touchdowns is third, while his 61.0 completion percentage is also third in school history.

The signal caller won Offensive Player of the Week honors seven times in 2009, which is an OVC record, and he claimed the honor nine times during his two-year career to tie for the most-ever in the league's 61-year.
