Offensive
Ashley Runion, F, 5'9, Sr., St. Peters, Mo. - Southeast Missouri
Runion was named to the Racer Classic All-Tournament team after leading the team in goals, assists and points during the tourney. In the 9-1 win over Alabama A&M, she recorded her second career hat trick. She also set a new career-high with three assists and nine points. Her three goals tied the teams individual single-game record. She scored three goals on all three shots she attempted in 59 minutes of action. Against South Florida, she tied for the team lead with two shots in 55 minutes.
Defensive
Maja Nordahl, D, 5'7, Jr., Oslo, Norway - Murray State
Nordahl scored her first goal of the season in Murray State's first match of the Racer Classic against South Florida. Her second career goal came from nearly 35 yards out.
Co-Goalkeepers
Kaylin Lorbert, GK, 5'5, Sr., Wildwood, Mo. - Eastern Illinois
Lorbert surrendered only one goal in each of Eastern Illinois' two matches last week. She made a pair of saves versus Valparaiso and five against Eastern Michigan.
Ali Koenig, GK, 5'8, So., Colleyville, Texas - Jacksonville State
Koenig made 18 saves while giving up four goals in 135 minutes in net in Jacksonville State's two matches last week. She made eight saves in the New Mexico State match and followed that up with 10 stops versus North Texas.
2010 OVC Women's Soccer Team Notes
AUSTIN PEAY (4-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Austin Peay improved to 4-0, extending the programs best ever start. It also matches the program's longest winning streak. The Lady Govs shutout Western Illinois (1-0) and Chattanooga (2-0). Austin Peay has had four straight shutouts, which is a program record, holding opponents scoreless for 360 minutes. Freshman Emily Kink has scored three goals so far this season, which is one more than the 2009 scoring leader. Austin Peay will travel to the Troy Invitational this weekend where it will face South Alabama on Friday and Troy on Sunday.
EASTERN ILLINOIS (2-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Eastern Illinois dropped a pair of matches last week, falling to Valparaiso (1-0) and Eastern Michigan (1-0). The match versus EMU marked the first time the Panthers were shutout at home since September 2008, ending their streak of 14 consecutive games with a goal at Lakeside Field. Eastern Michigan also snapped EIU's nine-game unbeaten streak at home. Junior defenders Hillary Blake and Sam Balek went the distance in both games. Balek has yet to leave the field during game action this season. They help limit the opposition to a combined nine shots on goal and five corner kicks in the two games. Senior goalkeeper Kaylin Lorbert made seven saves in the two games. Eastern Illinois will travel to Green Bay on Friday and Indiana State on Sunday.
EASTERN KENTUCKY (1-3-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Eastern Kentucky dropped a pair of matches last week, falling to Kansas (3-0) and SIU Edwardsville (2-0). Freshman Brittany Nomady led the offense last week as she recorded three shots two of which were on goal. The Colonels will host Wright State on Friday and travel to Valparaiso on Sunday.
JACKSONVILLE STATE (0-4-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Jacksonville State fell to New Mexico State, 2-1, and North Texas, 2-0, in the Hotel Encanto Aggie Classic. Sophomore Nathalee Lariviere scored her first goal of the season against NMSU as she registered the goal 94 seconds into the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Ali Koenig made 18 stops in the two matches. Jacksonville State will travel to Mississippi Valley State on Friday and Jackson State on Sunday.
MOREHEAD STATE (1-3-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Morehead State fell to Toledo, 6-2, before picking up its first win of the 2010 season with a 3-1 victory at Akron last week. Senior Erin Adams recorded an assist against the Rockets and scored a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes versus the Zips. Senior goalkeeper Lily Meisner made seven stops in the two matches, including six in the win over Akron. Morehead State will host Wright State on Sunday.
MURRAY STATE (1-2-2 overall, 0-0-0 OVC ): Murray State fell to South Florida, 4-2, before picking up its first win of the season with a 1-0 overtime victory over Alabama A&M. Junior defender Maja Nordahl scored her first goal of the year in the USF match. Senior Laken Dirkes' scored the game-winning goal versus Alabama A&M. Murray State will travel to Tulsa on Friday and Oklahoma State on Sunday.
SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (2-1-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Southeast Missouri went 1-1 at the Racer Classic last weekend, defeating Alabama A&M, 9-1, and falling to South Florida, 4-0. Six different Redhawks scored in the match with Alabama A&M. Senior Ashley Runion posted her second career hat trick versus the Bulldogs and assisted on three other scores for nine points in the match. Junior defender Nikki Edwards also earned all-tournament honors. She played 135 minutes over the two matches and extended her streak to 35 straight starts. Southeast Missouri will host Washington (Mo.) on Wednesday and Ball State on Sunday.
SIU EDWARDSVILLE (2-0-0 overall): SIU Edwardsville picked up its second straight win of the season as the Cougars shutout Eastern Kentucky, 2-0. Senior Chelsey Johnston and junior Devon Thomas provided the offense for SIUE, each scoring a goal. Junior goalkeeper Claire Lovercheck made six saves to record the shutout. The Cougars will host Ball State on Friday and travel to IPFW on Sunday.
TENNESSEE TECH (0-3-0 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): Tennessee Tech fell to Middle Tennessee, 2-1, in its only match of the week. Sophomore Kerri Reid scored her first goal of the season versus the Blue Raiders. Tennessee Tech will be in search of its first win of the season as it travels to Vanderbilt on Friday and hosts UNC Asheville on Sunday.
UT MARTIN (1-2-1 overall, 0-0-0 OVC): UT Martin picked up its first win of the season with a 1-0 overtime victory over Lipscomb before falling to Missouri State, 2-0, last week. Freshman Abi Sanvee scored the lone goal against Lipscomb. Freshman defender Morgan Brandon was part of a defense that allowed just two goals in 200 minutes of action last week. Freshman goalkeeper Elise Applegate did not allow a goal and made one save over 70 minutes in net.
