That marked the fifth-straight season the program has had a .500 or better Conference record after previously having only two of those marks in its first 13 years as a member of the OVC. Head coach Jason Simpson will look to senior linebacker Josh Bey, the 2010 OVC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, to lead a defensive unit that was fourth in the league in total defense a season ago (332.7 yards/game). Bey had 107 tackles, 16.5 tackles-for-loss (a mark that was 10th nationally) and 6.5 sacks in 2009. Offensively the Skyhawks will have to replace quarterback Cade Thompson who passed for 2,546 yards and 16 touchdowns a season ago.
