OVC Bests List
Male Track Athlete of the Week:
Chris Rengifo, Sr., Woodbridge, Ontario - Eastern Kentucky
Rengifo ran the second fastest mile, 4:16.26, and the third fastest 800 meters, 1:54.01, in the OVC on Saturday at the Rod McCravy Invitational hosted by Kentucky. He was competing against a talented field of 13 including two nationally-ranked men's programs in No. 1 Florida State and No. 19 Kentucky.
Female Track Athlete of the Week:
Erin O'Grady, Sr., Arlington Heights, Ill. - Eastern Illinois
O'Grady won two events at the Illinois Intercollegiate as she helped EIU place second in the meet that featured Illinois and SIU Edwardsville. O'Grady won the mile with a time of 5:06.35 which landed her seventh on the EIU career charts and first on the OVC best list. O'Grady also won the 1000 meter run with a mark of 3:00.06.
Male Field Athlete of the Week:
Josh Uchtman, Jr., Steeleville, Ill. - Southeast Missouri
Uchtman led the way as he captured the Redhawks lone individual title. This is his third straight shot put title with a toss of 58'-4.75" which tied his career-best throw set two weeks ago at the SASF Invitational. That mark surpasses the NCAA Provisional distance and ranks third on the school's all-time charts. It is also the conference's top distance so far this season. This is his second Indoor Male Field Athlete of the week honor, also earning it Jan. 19.
Female Field Athlete of the Week:
Kandace Arnold, Sr., Evergreen Park, Ill. - Eastern Illinois
Arnold swept both throws events for the third straight weekend helping her team place second in the Illinois Intercollegiate meet hosted by EIU. Arnold won the weight throw with a distance of 56-05.25, nearly 3 ½ feet longer than the second place competitor and good enough for third on the OVC best list. She claimed top honors in the shot put with a mark of 48-07.25, which is second in the OVC, outdistancing the runner-up by more than eight feet. This is Arnold's second Indoor Female Field Athlete of the Week honor, also earning it Jan. 12.
