Six OVC Football Players Earn All-American Status From College Sports Madness 12/6/2011 9:28:00 PM Complete College Sports Madness FCS All-American TeamSix Ohio Valley Conference players have been named to the 2011 College Sports Madness Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Team as announced on Tuesday.College Sports Madness has covered FCS football all season. During the regular season, the Madness provided an updated FCS Top 25 each week, recognized players of the week for each conference, and updated a projection of the FCS playoff bracket on a weekly basis. College Sports Madness has also provided extensive coverage of the FCS Playoffs.The first-team selections included Southeast Missouri State junior linebacker Blake Peiffer, Eastern Kentucky senior defensive back Jeremy Caldwell and UT Martin senior punt returner C.J. Estelle. The second-team selections were UT Martin senior offensive lineman Michael Mancini and Tennessee Tech offensive lineman Scott Schweitzer. The third-team selection was Eastern Kentucky junior running back Matt Denham.Peiffer, a first-team All-OVC selection this year, led the league and ranked third in the nation with 13.7 tackles per game. He registered double-digit tackles in 10 of 11 starts and broke Southeast's single-season tackles record with 151.Caldwell, a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, finished the season with 51 tackles (37 solo), 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He was named a first-team All-OVC selection as a return specialist and a second-team selection as a defensive back.Estelle led the nation in punt return average during the 2011 season. The senior had 16 returns for 283 yards, an average of 17.7 yards/return. Included in that is a return of 76 yards for a touchdown against Austin Peay.Mancini, a first-team All-OVC selection, graded out at 75 percent on the season. He made two errors in 633 snaps and recorded 32 pancake blocks for the Skyhawks.Schweitzer was part of a Golden Eagle offensive line that helped Tennessee Tech to a share of the OVC Championship, its first Conference crown since 1975. Tech also earned the OVC's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs and hosted Central Arkansas in the first round.Denham ranked third in the FCS in rushing (131.4 yards/game) despite not starting the first four games of the season. After becoming the starter he averaged 184.5 yards/game over the last eight games of the season, a mark that led the nation by 35.3 yards/game. That included four games with 200-plus yards on the ground, tied for the most in the nation. Denham finished the season with eight-straight 100-yard rushing games, the longest active streak in the FCS.
