Phil Steele Publications has released its Preseason All-American Teams for the 2011 season and seven OVC players appear on one of the three teams.
Southeast Missouri State safety Tylor Brock was the lone OVC player named to the first-team. The second team included a pair of return specialist in Eastern Kentucky kick returner Jeremy Caldwell and Murray State punt returner Dontrell Johnson. The third-team included Tennessee Tech wide receiver Tim Benford, Southeast Missouri State offensive tackle Evan Conrad and Caldwell, who supplemented his second-team honors as a returner by also being picked as a defensive back. The fourth-team included Murray State running back Mike Harris.
Nationally Phil Steele ranked the Top 40 teams in the FCS entering the season and the magazine predicted Jacksonville State 11th, Murray State 21st and UT Martin 28th.
